1) Create, using CDINST.CMD from the OS/2 2nd (not the Installation CD) CD,
three intall diskettes.
2) On the Installation Diskette, replace the OS2KRNLI file with the
OS2KRNLI file from the \ACP sub-directory.
3) On Diskette 1, edit CONFIG.SYS and add the following statement
at the end of the file:
SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1
4) Start the installation of CP2 by inserting the Installation
Diskette you modified in Step 1 into A: and the second CP2 CD
into the CD-ROM drive.
5) During install, on the third Installation Panel, the last item
shown is the SMP support file install. This check box will be
selected. Clear the check box and continue the install as if the
system is a UNI system.
6) Complete the install in the normal manner.
7) You must now enable the SMP support. Run INSTALL (or Selective
Install from the System Setup folder, Install/Remove folder)
and on the panel where you cleared SMP support, select it now
and continue. This causes the SMP support to be installed.
Reboot the system to enable SMP support.
At this point, the fix has been completed.
NOTE:
If you are going to add memory to a Pentium 4 system above 512MB, apply FixPak XR_F001 or later first . Failure to do so causes your machine not to boot. If this should happen, you must apply the FixPak XR_F001 or later using an alternate boot source.
