This file describes the procedure to install the fix for

IBM(R) OS/2(R) Convenience Package 2 (CP2) when installing on

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 machines greater than 512MB.

The following APARs are the only items included in this fix. This fix

is for Convenience Package 2 systems only:

  APAR     ABSTRACT

  PJ28355  SYS3175 in DOSCALL1.DLL when booting a Pentium 4 machine

           when initializing testcfg.sys or apm.sys

  PJ28362  traps in os2krnl running theseus/4

PJ28379  disallow alt-f4 and alt-f5 in the presence of altf1sec.cmd

IC32279  Trap 000e in TKDeclareInversion after killing a process

           while it's doing DosDelete processing.

The directory structure created when you uncompress the zip file is

the following :

ACP\      Contains the replacement OS2KRNLI for the OS/2 Warp

Server for e-Business Convenience Package 2.

MCP\      Contains the replacement OS2KRNLI for the OS/2 Warp 4

          Convenience Package 2.

This package includes 3 files.

READ.ME             - This file

ACP\OS2KRNLI        - OS2KRNLI for OS/2 Warp Server for e-business

                      (UNI and SMP)

MCP\OS2KRNLI        - OS2KRNLI for OS/2 Warp 4

The two sets of instructions below address installing the FixPak on

a UNI or SMP processor respectively.

OS/2 Warp 4 Convenience Package 2 and OS/2 Warp Server for e-business

Convenience Package 2 UNI Processor Instructions:

_____________________________________________________________________

1) Create, using CDINST.CMD from the OS/2 2nd (not the Installation CD) CD,

   three install diskettes.

2) On the Installation Diskette, replace the OS2KRNLI file with

the OS2KRNLI file from the \ACP (for OS/2 Warp Server for e-business

Convenience Package 2) or \MCP (for OS/2 Warp 4 Convenience Package

2 ) sub-directory, depending which product you have.

3) On Diskette 1, edit CONFIG.SYS and add the following statement

at the end of the file:

     SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1

4) Start the installation of CP2 by inserting the Installation

Diskette you modified in Step 1 into A: and the second CP2 CD

   into the CD-ROM drive.

5) Do your normal install, following the prompts on the screen.

At this point, the fix has been completed.

OS/2 Warp Server for e-business Convenience Package 2 SMP

Processor Instructions:

_________________________________________________________

1) Create, using CDINST.CMD from the OS/2 2nd (not the Installation CD) CD,

   three intall diskettes.

2) On the Installation Diskette, replace the OS2KRNLI file with the

   OS2KRNLI file from the \ACP sub-directory.

5) During install, on the third Installation Panel, the last item

shown is the SMP support file install. This check box will be

selected. Clear the check box and continue the install as if the

   system is a UNI system.

6) Complete the install in the normal manner.

7) You must now enable the SMP support. Run INSTALL (or Selective

Install from the System Setup folder, Install/Remove folder)

and on the panel where you cleared SMP support, select it now

and continue. This causes the SMP support to be installed.

Reboot the system to enable SMP support.

At this point, the fix has been completed.

NOTE:

If you are going to add memory to a Pentium 4 system above 512MB, apply FixPak XR_F001 or later first . Failure to do so causes your machine not to boot. If this should happen, you must apply the FixPak XR_F001 or later using an alternate boot source.
